Rockhampton boasts facilities fit for Olympians

Aligning with Advance Rockhampton’s economic development strategy, our tourism unit are putting Rocky on the radar as a destination of choice amongst national and state sporting peak bodies through the launch of a new guide – Rockhampton’s Sporting Destination Guide.

With world class hockey fields, a fina pool, outdoor velodrome, a 2000m flat water rowing course, premier mountain bike trails, and A-grade netball courts and football fields, Rockhampton is home to national, international and Olympic standard sporting facilities that nurture beginners to athletes.

With access to such quality facilities and a sub-tropical climate with over 300 days of sunshine, it’s no wonder Rockhampton has played host to major sporting events like the 2019 Oceania Cup, 2021 KTM AJMX Championships, 2021 NRL Semi-Final and is considered home to Rowing Queensland’s and Rowing Australia’s annual training camps.

Filling a gap that promotes Rockhampton as a destination for future sporting events and training camps in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics, this new guide showcases the vast number of major sporting complexes and venues across Rockhampton and profiles local caterers, physiotherapists, accommodation providers and group transfer companies suitable for all sizes of sporting groups.

With direct flights arriving into Rockhampton from Brisbane, Mackay, Cairns, Townsville, Proserpine, Sunshine Coast and soon to be Melbourne, as well as access via the tilt train and road access from the North, South and West - connecting to Rockhampton from all major cities in Australia has never been easier.

We welcome you to download the new Rockhampton Sporting Destination Guide and get in touch if there's anything the Advance Rockhampton team can assist you, your team or your club with in planning your next sporting event or competition in Rockhampton.
