Rotary Club of Loveland Welcomes New President for the 2023-2024 Rotary Calendar Year

Rotary Club of Loveland Welcomes New President for the 2023-2024 Rotary Calendar Year

Loveland, CO (Rotary Club of Loveland), July 11th, 2023 – Please join us in welcoming James Epstein [Jim] as the club's new president! After the previous, at the time, President-Elect had to step down due to health concerns, Jim stepped up and took on the role to learn and prepare to be the upcoming President of the Loveland Rotary Club. Rotary structures its calendar year from July to June instead of a traditional January to December.

Each year, the new president, for their first meeting of the new rotary year, addresses the club on their goals, expectations, and excitement for their term. Jim started his President's Address by telling us "three truths and one lie."

  1. I grew up in New York City trapping pigeons in phone booths.
  2. When I was in the Army, I lived in the women’s nurses' quarters (and there met my wife Cathy of 55 years!).
  3. I once moved to the Seattle area with 200 of my closest friends (colleagues at HP, actually, on a mission to start a new division for the company).
  4. I started a micro-lending organization in India that raised money for 7 small businesses after I retired from HP.

The answer?

"They are all true. I didn't want to start out my presidency with a lie." - Jim Epstein

Jim joined Rotary when he saw how such a diverse group of people could make a difference in the lives of people. One of his top goals for this year is for membership engagement to be the top priority. After reading that the new Rotary International president views “performing acts of kindness” as essential to all that is done in Rotary, Jim is unofficially adding “Will it be Kind?” to the 4 Way Test. Now it will be the 4 Way Test +1 for the Loveland Rotary Club this year.

The club is grateful that Jim chose to step up when a leader was needed. Join the club is warmly welcoming Jim Epstein as our new President for this year!
