Samsung Ads Spotlight, February APAC Edition

The Howatson + Company team - winners of the AdNews Agency of The Year award

One of the biggest events for Samsung Ads in February, was the AdNews Agency of the Year Awards, where Samsung Ads were the presenting partner. The event was a great opportunity for those within the industry to celebrate their achievements over the past year and there was a lot to celebrate. Particularly for the creative agency Howatson+Company who not only won the coveted Agency of the Year category but five other categories, including The Employer of the Year (Headcount Over 75) category. In a first, Samsung Ads, who presented this year's award, also provided $100,000 in Samsung Ads advertising, to be used for a charity of Howatson + Company's choice.

Congratulations were also in order for The Media Store who took home the Employer of the Year (Headcount under 75) and CHEP Network whose campaign for Samsung Australia won the Media Campaign and Ad Campaign of the Year categories. The high caliber of work and the amazing initiatives the finalists of every category put forward for this event, let alone the winners of each category goes to show the high quality of work and service provided by agencies across the country in the past year.

IAMAI India Digital Summit: Is CTV the Orry of digital marketing?

February also saw Samsung Ads India's very own Senior Director Prabhvir Sahmey, on a panel at the India Digital Summit. Alongside other industry leaders, he discussed the transformative impact of CTV in marketing; its significance for events like IPL, and the potential for immersive shopping experiences. Prabhvir Sahmey said “As we've often heard, ‘revenue solves all problems,’ and now we're witnessing a significant shift from TV to digital, with 60,000 crores already migrating.

When that figure reaches 100%, CTV will truly solidify its place as the cornerstone of digital. Until then, the debate continues if it's the Orry of digital marketing or not,” he said.

Disney, Reliance Seal $8.5 Billion Deal to Merge Indian Media Businesses

In breaking news, Reliance and Disney to merge media businesses in India in a $8.5 billion (Rs 70,352 crore) joint venture. The JV will be one of the leading TV and digital streaming platforms for entertainment and sports content with over 750 million viewers across India a statement said. This sets the stage for the establishment of a media and entertainment powerhouse.

Total TV advertising had a combined revenue of $3.4 billion in December 2023.

The latest findings from ThinkTV Australia reveal that the total TV advertising market had a combined revenue of $3.4 billion for the year to December 2023, which was down 10% compared to 2022. This advertising market includes metropolitan free-to-air, regional free-to-air, and broadcaster video on demand (BVOD) and excludes Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia .

Media experts believe the past year resulted from a 'perfect storm of economic headwinds' including inflationary pressures, supply chain disruptions, and record-low consumer confidence. Despite this, Think TV also reported that BVOD revenue for the total financial year was up 10 percent year-on-year, according to the media company.
