Samsung Scroll – July Edition

Samsung Scroll – July Edition

Your monthly burst of Samsung UK news, from our tech to our people.

It’s been a blockbuster month. We launched a whole host of new products, from foldable smartphones to microwaves that can also air fry and steam. As one of the long-standing sponsors, you may have also noticed we’ve also been busy at the Olympic Games!

OUR PRODUCTS

 Live at the Louvre!

First up was Galaxy Unpacked, which we suitably held in Paris. A global launch to showcase our latest Galaxy innovations and how they will empower users to maximise their health, boost productivity and unlock new levels of communication with Galaxy AI.

Elevating Galaxy AI to new heights with Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6

Our latest foldables are here. They maximise the power of Galaxy AI[1] with their flexible form factors, giving users new ways to create and get things done. They’re also our slimmest and lightest Z series yet, but our most durable too. With a Dual Rail Hinge and strengthened Folding Edge, they have greater resistance to physical impact, while enhanced layers on the main screen help to improve the crease. They have superfast processors optimised for AI processing and performance, as well as extended battery life.

However, we didn’t just fold phones … We folded a bus!

We turned East London into ‘Fold Town’ in a series of activations to celebrate the launch of our new foldable smartphones. We temporarily renamed Old Street in London to ‘Fold Street’ in a partnership with TfL[2], folded a bus with artist Caspar Phillips, and a bench, lamppost and telephone box, with designer Jem Hughes. The bus included a host of recycled materials from real London buses and took two months to design and build.

We also collaborated with skate streetwear brand, hTown, to install a skate ramp, and partnered with a series of local businesses to feature in-store and window posters for the campaign, as well as serve as a venue for Galaxy AI Hype Labs workshops[3]. With a bespoke wrapped taxi and hand-painted murals at the Old Street Murals site, it was a truly epic takeover.

We also launched our first ever ring

Imagine a ring that's more than just a piece of jewellery, it's a portal to your health, fitness, and connected world. The Galaxy Ring is a brand-new form factor for us, celebrating our continued expansion into wearables and digital health. Like our other new products, it’s kitted out with innovative Galaxy AI features[4], complete with 24/7 health monitoring and a 7-day battery life[5]. One of the most exciting new features is a powerful sleep AI algorithm to help you easily understand your sleep patterns and build better habits for a peaceful night’s rest.

Joining the wearables family: two new editions of Galaxy Watch. Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are engineered to help you pursue your health and fitness goals. Packed into their premium designs, they have advanced sleep and health monitoring features to help you be more in tune with your body and get the most out of your day. You can keep a holistic track of all of the data they track at a glance with the Samsung Health app[6].

Completing the set of new products unveiled at The Louvre were the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro . In a brand-new design, they have crystal-clear audio, powerful bass, and intelligent noise cancellation to let you immerse yourself in your playlists or podcasts. They’re also equipped with Galaxy AI, so for example, if you attend a class in a foreign language, they can translate it in real time for you with Interpreter[7] in Listening Mode on either Galaxy Z Fold6 or ZFlip6!

Now, it’s not just mobile tech we’ve been launching … did you know that you don’t need a separate appliance to be able to air fry?

We've taken the humble microwave to new heights. Forget about juggling multiple appliances – our new Smart All-in-One Microwave range can cook, grill, steam, air fry and heat. It frees up space in your kitchen by centralising the ability to cook your food in different ways all in the one appliance. With voice control[8] and smart features, it brings fun and ease to your cooking. It's time to upgrade your kitchen game.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

Back to Paris for the Olympics

We’ve been an Olympics partner since 1988, when the Games were held in Seoul, and in a continuation of this long-standing partnership, we’ve been at the heart of all the action in the French capital.

Earlier this year, we opened a showcase of our Olympics heritage at Champs-Élysées in collaboration with award-winning architect Jean Nouvel, who we collaborated with again for a pop-up experience in Marigny Square . If you’re heading to the Paralympic Games, make sure to stop by when it opens its doors again!

Before we knew it, the Opening Ceremony was upon us. To give viewers the chance to see the event through the eyes of the athletes, we put our top-class smartphone camera technology to work by working with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to install more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete boats that took part on the river Seine. This was livestreamed to broadcast through a 5G network.

While we put our smartphones on boats, we also put them into the hands of the competitors, gifting nearly 17,000 athletes and Olympic families a Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition . If you followed the events of Paris 2024, you will have seen those on the podium posing for selfies that became an iconic staple of the medal ceremonies … the victory selfies! This was a first-of-its-kind chance for athletes to cement their precious winning memories in their own style, as the event has traditionally been photographed by accredited media only, captured from a distance.

Feeling inspired? Experience how a smart watch meets a smart bike

Did you know that our new Galaxy Watch devices can connect to external fitness equipment to track your workout? A perfect example is the Technogym Skillbike, which is packed with advanced features that allow you to train like a pro. We’ve just installed two at Samsung KX ! Pop in and experience this combination of premium fitness technology with live fitness readings from Galaxy Watch Ultra on our stunning display technology, The Wall.

The Technogym Skillbike accurately reproduces the biomechanics of outdoor bicycles. It’s the first stationary bike with a real gear shift, and its Pedal Printing™ technology gives you continuous visual feedback on the circularity and symmetry of your pedalling stroke at different gear ratios to improve your efficiency.
