Saving GIB and Florican

Biodiversity expert confirms the count in 2023 for the GIB and habitats which protect the birds. There are less than 120 birds in the wild and the habitats protecting the birds are found in Thar, Gujarat, one location in A.P and Karnataka. The bird looks majestic in its habitat and it is a challenge to the conservationalists who follow its behaviour. The government has contributed towards a fenced breeding zone and breeding program for conservation. They of course dont get the same status as Tigers and Lions as they are not dangerous to human being, cattle and other co-habitants.

The Grasslands are the key to protection but grazing animals could disturb the ground nests and since the GIB is flightless it is a greater challenge to protect the birds habitats.
