Screw That!: Transforming Trauma Into Triumph
Life has a way of throwing us curveballs—moments that leave us broken, betrayed, and unsure of how to move forward. But what if those moments could become the catalysts for our greatest transformation? What if the pain we’ve endured could be used as fuel to create a life we never imagined?
I’m Dr. Debi Silber, founder and CEO of The Post Betrayal Transformation® (PBT®) Institute and creator of National Forgiveness Day, celebrated every year on September 1st. I’ve seen it all—stories of heartbreak, betrayal, and unimaginable pain—but I’ve also witnessed something extraordinary. I’ve seen people take those moments and say, “Screw that!” and go on to create something incredible out of their suffering.
That’s what I want to talk about today—the power of saying “Screw that!” and how it can lead you to a life of healing, growth, and transformation.
The Turning Point: Declaring “Screw That!”
We’ve all hit that breaking point at one time or another. Maybe it was after a betrayal, when you realized that letting someone else’s actions dictate your life was no longer an option. Or maybe it was the day you got fed up with feeling stuck and decided to take charge of your health, finances, or relationships.
That moment—the one where you say “Screw that!”—is where everything starts to shift. It’s the point where you take control, not just of your circumstances, but of your mindset, your energy, and your future.
I had one of those “Screw that” moments just this morning. I was sick and tired of feeling achy, tired and sluggish. So, after lifting some weights, I blasted music from a “top 100 inspirational songs” playlist and I ran on my treadmill for the first time in over 2 years…just to show my body who’s boss. (Yes all my fitness friends, I know that running is hard on the joints, not the best way to lose fat, etc. but I just needed today for my mind to tell my body…I’m back-which is why this pic is showing that I ran at 6.0 for 30 minutes this morning).
Back to my point…
The Stages Of Transformation
At The PBT® Institute, we (my amazing team of PBT® Certified Coaches/Practitioners and I) move people through the proven and predictable Five Stages of healing from betrayal. Many people get stuck in Stage three, where the pain feels insurmountable, and moving forward seems impossible.
But if you’re willing to push through, to confront your pain and make a decision to grow, you can move into Stage four and beyond—the Stages where transformation happens. This is where you turn your crisis into an opportunity for growth, where your trauma becomes the foundation for your greatest triumph.
Introducing The #MyScrewThatStory Series
I know how hard it is to move through that pain, which is why I want to celebrate YOU. I’m launching the #MyScrewThatStory series as a way to honor the incredible transformations happening every day.
Every week, I’ll be highlighting one person’s story of resilience and growth—someone who has taken their trauma and used it to create a better life.
And here’s the best part: If your story is chosen, you’ll receive a one-month scholarship to The PBT® Institute ($297 value) to enjoy or you’re able to gift it to someone in need. Maybe it’s a friend, a sibling, or someone in your life who’s struggling. This is your chance to share your journey and receive our gift or pay it forward by helping someone else begin their healing.
How To Share Your Story
Why Your Story Matters
Your story could be the light someone else needs to find their way. There are so many people out there who feel stuck in their pain, unsure of how to move forward. By sharing your journey, you show them that healing is possible, that they’re stronger than they think, and that transformation is within their reach.
We’re so much stronger than we realize. I’ve seen it time and time again: people take their most painful moments and turn them into opportunities to grow, evolve, and create meaningful lives.
A Proven Path To Healing
At The PBT® Institute, we’ve created a proven, research-based method to help people heal from the heartbreak of betrayal. We know how difficult this journey can be, but we also know how rewarding it is to come out on the other side.
By participating in the #MyScrewThatStory series, you’re not just celebrating your own transformation—you’re helping others find their way. You’re showing them what’s possible, and you’re giving them access to the tools and support they need to heal.
Join The Movement
If you’ve had your “Screw that!” moment, now’s the time to share it. Your journey matters, and it has the power to inspire and uplift others.
Let’s celebrate your resilience and pay it forward to those who are still struggling. Share your story with the hashtags #MyScrewThatStoryand #PBTInstitute, and let’s create a ripple effect of healing and transformation.
The worst is behind you. Now it’s time to show the world just how strong you are. 🌟
