Self Managing our ‘Bouncebackability’

Self Managing our ‘Bouncebackability’

‘Bouncebackability’ - does that word even exist??!

Who cares! In the same way that the parameters that we or someone else sets us to define ‘bouncing back’, is all made up too. There is no line, only constraints that we have been set.

Please let me explain.

Life will throw curveballs at us, there will always be challenges that us human beings encounter and it is absolutely OK, to NOT be OK – we are likely to despair if we lose our job, to grieve when we lose someone, or to be hard on ourselves if we don’t achieve something that we set out to.

Working along the same line as that, however, ‘not being OK’ will not last forever. This is impossible. ‘Not being OK’ is a feeling and feelings are transient, they will pass with each thought that comes through us.

I’ve seen the message ‘IT’S OK, TO NOT BE OK’ so many times across many platforms as maybe many of you have too. I do honestly believe it is heartfelt and with good intentions. However, there is something more here – with acceptance of our feelings in the present, with an understanding that it won’t be forever, and trusting our innate well-being to come through; for me this a more powerful message to consider.

Placing that self-created line or parameter and defining what bouncebackability means to us can lead to extra pressure as that line might seem so far away. After all, that is the future which does not exist as yet and it is only something that we have made up.

Acceptance, trust and just understanding how our moment-to-moment experience works, our bouncebackability is already happening.

Here’s to your understanding and bullet-proofing yourself against any challenge in your life!

Have a cracking weekend and take care.
