Future GP workforce plans for London

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan commissioned The King’s Fund and Nuffield Trust to undertake an independent analysis of sustainability and transformation plans (STP) in London. The full 98 page document is available online. The most relevant section for London GPs is the section on workforce reproduced below (P73 in the report).

Practice Managers’ Blended Learning Programme

Londonwide LMCs are delighted to be launching a brand new blended learning programme for general practice managers at the Practice Manager Conference taking place on 22 November.

The innovative course, which has been accredited by the Royal College of General Practice, is aimed at those who are entering general practice for the first time, those wishing to update their skills following a break, those on a career path within a practice or those who are managers in another field and are looking to follow a career in practice management. MDO reimbursement (indemnity)

As part of the 2017/18 GP contract agreement, it was agreed that £30m would be paid to practices to cover 2016/17 rises in indemnity insurance costs for all doctors delivering GMS work. It is acknowledged that this falls significantly short of the actual cost. Read more.

Extended access data collection now open

As NHS England will have informed you recently, the third bi-annual extended access collection is now open for submission until the end of Friday 29 September 2017. As set out in the 2016 regulations, all GP practices in England are required to submit an online return twice a year through the Primary Care Web Tool. This will set out what access to appointments the practice offers to patients either itself or through other arrangements, over evenings and weekends. Read more.

TPP has identified some changes which are intended to address the ICO’s concerns about the fair and lawful processing of and access to patient data on SystmOne. Read more.
