🇳🇱 Affordable Rent Act: Key Updates and Impact
As of July 1st, 2024, the Affordable Rent Act is in effect, designed to protect tenants from excessive rent increases. While the law has good intentions, it may present new challenges for international relocates.
How Does This Impact You?
We'll cover more of the details in our upcoming webinar. For now, stay informed on how these changes might affect your relocation plans and housing decisions in the Netherlands.
🇬🇧 UK Transitions to Online Immigration Status (eVisa):
Starting 6 August 2024, the Home Office will continue its shift to a digital immigration system. If you currently hold a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), Biometric Residence Card (BRC), or old passport stamps or vignette stickers confirming your UK immigration status, you’ll be able to apply for an eVisa. This change marks the next step in replacing physical documents with a streamlined online status.
🇩🇪 Germany's Western Balkans Regulation Program:
Germany has doubled the quota for its "Western Balkans Regulation Program," increasing the number of temporary visas available from 25,000 to 50,000. This program allows individuals from the Western Balkans to obtain temporary visas if they have a job offer from a German employer. The expansion aims to address the current labor shortage that is impacting Germany's economic growth.
🇦🇺 Australia's New Law to Protect Workers & Employer Accountability
As of July 1, 2024, the Australian government has launched the Workplace Justice pilot program. This program allows temporary migrants who have experienced workplace exploitation to stay in Australia for six to 12 months, with the possibility of extending up to four years, to pursue justice at no cost.
