Shenzhen, More Than A Cyber Cluster
Me, a guy in overseas business. Living in Shenzhen, working in Shenzhen, studying in Shenzhen.
For you, maybe this city just means the place with a lot of Chinese suppliers; for me, it's a wonderful place to work, to make living, to become more professional in my career.
Every week, every month, every year, you have no idea about how many professional meetings, courses, forums are happening here. It's true that this city is the global consumer electronics cluster and it's true that the massive scale effect benefits almost all of the players on the supply chain, lower down overall production costs, improve production efficiency. On the other hand, we, the sales, the marketing people, we found up groups to share, searching for groups to learn, asking friends to get recommended. So far, I have a connection to a lot of such groups, 100 - 30K people groups. You can meet people from different industries and different cities all over China. Suppliers, traders, manufacturers, online retailers, marketers, forwarders, HR and even university professors.
This is a city with high pressure but fulfilled with passion, competition, and dreams. In fact, the guy Jack you place order to might working till 1:00 am every day; the lady Sunny might still replying to your emails while lying in the hospital. And both of them may join the same training course on the weekends. As for me, the same. It sounds might be crazy, but I really love this type of life.
There's no stop on this, we want to keep the ball rolling. Maybe this just the snippet of daily life in Shenzhen, however, you can take it for granted as a reason why Shenzhen becomes the world's largest cyber cluster, and the no. 1 city to do global trading in China.
