Spiro Champions Electric Vehicle Policy Advocacy in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya – [Date] – In light of the recent unveiling by Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Roads & Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen , of the Draft National Electric Mobility Policy, SPIRO , a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) space in Africa, applauds the government's progressive steps toward embracing electric mobility. The initiative detailed by Cabinet Secretary Murkomen highlights the vast benefits of transitioning to electric vehicles, including significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, a decrease in the national petroleum import bill, and fostering local manufacturing and job creation.

Spiro's advocacy strategy is deeply rooted in proactive engagement with government and policymakers to develop a comprehensive framework that facilitates the transition to electric mobility across Kenya. This approach has positioned Spiro as a key contributor to the dialogue on sustainable transportation solutions that benefit both the environment and the economy.

The collaboration between Spiro, the Electric Vehicle Transformation Taskforce (EVTF), and the Kenyan government has paved the way for a policy framework that is poised to accelerate the adoption of EVs within the country. "Spiro is dedicated to supporting Kenya's transition to a sustainable transportation future. Our involvement in shaping the National Electric Mobility Policy underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability and economic prosperity," says Kshitij Sharma Head of Spiro in Kenya.

As Kenya takes bold steps towards electric mobility, Spiro remains committed to supporting the implementation of the National Electric Mobility Policy. Leveraging its extensive experience in electric bikes and a deep understanding of the market, Spiro is uniquely equipped to play a significant role in achieving Kenya's green transportation ambitions.

In addition to advocating for robust EV policies, Spiro is revolutionizing the mobility sector with its cutting-edge electric bikes and innovative battery-swapping model. This unique approach eliminates the lengthy charging times typically associated with electric vehicles, offering users an instant swap for a fully charged battery at Spiro’s swap stations. The recent arrival of Automated Smart Swapping Stations in Kenya further enhances this model, providing an even more seamless and efficient experience for Spiro’s riders. This technology underscores Spiro's commitment to not only promoting environmental sustainability but also to enhancing the convenience and affordability of clean transportation solutions for all Kenyans. Spiro’s comprehensive approach, combining advocacy, innovation, and practical solutions, is setting a new standard for the future of transportation in Africa.

"Spiro's advocacy efforts are aimed at contributing to national development through the promotion of clean, sustainable, and economically viable transportation options. We look forward to continuing our work with the government and industry stakeholders to make electric mobility a reality in Kenya and beyond," Sharma adds.

Hello Manager E Moto in Africa I understand that you are a Start and have raised funds to launch Electric Motorcycle Taxis in Kenya & Togo & Benin ETC. We want to launch the same in Cameroon. I don't really understand the business plan because: E Solid motorcycles 3 to 4 More expensive. Much lower autonomy and which will drop quickly with loss of battery performance, especially Lithium made in India.   Battery life approximately 2 years in real life and 1000 Cycles. What can you suggest ? We are ready to invest if profitable.
