Spring Refresh: Unique Interior Trends Making Waves in 2024
As the first quarter of the year closes, the sun begins to linger a little longer in the sky, the flowers bloom, and our set designers and art directors watch trends blossom. While many look to January for trendsetting, April offers us a seasoned view of which styles truly resonate as the year unfolds.
Before we get into our own insights, let's recap the anticipated trends. Architectural Digest's 2024 Interior Design Forecast touted the revival of Updated Art Deco, Maximalist Upholstery, and Vintage Case Goods. Meanwhile, Pantone's Color of the Year was dubbed “Peach Fuzz,” and Pinterest predicted the rise of "Kitschens." So, how do these forecasts measure up to reality in our work?
Here are the top five trends our team has seen in action:
1. Tile
Our encounters with tile have evolved from the subdued earthy tones to a palette that's pulsing with energy—vibrant cobalt blues, lively greens, and opulent jade tones inspired by the dopamine décor wave of 2023.
2. Cabinetry as Furniture
Aligning with the 'kitschen' trend, cabinetry has transformed from purely functional storage to statement pieces that showcase personality. It's a trend accelerated by the DIY and restoration movement, encouraging individuality in even the most utilitarian spaces.

3. Verdant Hues
Pantone may have spotlighted “Peach Fuzz,” but it's green that has captured our hearts and our spaces. With its versatility, from subtle chartreuse accents to bold teal statement pieces, green is establishing itself as a timeless choice in our design palette.
4. A Fresh Approach to Traditional
The nod to "updated art deco" and "vintage case goods" by Architectural Digest has been spot-on. We're seeing a blend of the classic—like industrial metals and hand-painted patterns—with modern twists, such as using unconventional paint colors for an element of surprise.
5. Sustainability in Design
As awareness of our environmental impact grows, so does the integration of sustainability in interior design. We're witnessing innovation through recycled materials for flooring and furniture, revitalized antiques, and energy-efficient appliances like kitchen island induction cooktops.
The design trends of 2024 are shaping up to be both an homage to the past and a bold step forward. From the revival of Art Deco to the embrace of greenery and sustainable materials, these elements are not just fads, but a reflection of our evolving values and lifestyles.
