Stop working so ridiculously hard

I get it—I too want to be the best at what I do, and I love my work.

But here’s what I have to keep saying to myself and my fast-brained, successful clients:

Stop working so ridiculously hard.

Remember, that you only have one body, with no backup waiting in the wings.

It may be strong and resilient, but it isn't infinitely elastic. You don’t want to push it beyond its breaking point.

So, let this be your cue to take a break and:

- Wriggle your toes— remind yourself that you walk the earth and the size of that thing underneath your feet.

- Take a walk— let your mind wonder as you wander.

- Play with a pet— get yourself some unconditional love (and serotonin!).

- Make time for a mini-nap — comfy sofa time is way underrated.

Or better yet: decide you’ve done enough for today.

Go do something that truly delights and re-energises you; that is NOT work.

And remember: you don’t win at life by working all the time.

Resting and playing are much more powerful than you think.

To satisfy your overachiever mind, here's a weekend challenge:

This weekend, disconnect completely for at least two hours.

Spend it doing something you love, or try something new that you've always wanted to do. Don’t take pictures for social media, and don’t make mental notes for your biography: just be in the moment, that's all you get graded on.

Have fun!
