Structural design for Gas Chemical Complex

Structural design for Gas Chemical Complex

About the project

The manufacturing plant will produce polyethylene and polypropylene from ethane, propane and butane. . It is assumed that the enterprise s expected to become one of the largest base polymer production plants in the world.

Spread of all different facilities designed by ENECA is more than 14450 tons.

Among the 40 structural steel detailers, ENECA was one of only three companies that managed to handle the extensive workload within a remarkably short timeframe.

Furthermore, ENECA was the sole company to agree to the challenge and successfully complete the work on schedule.

Parameters of one of the facilities design by ENECA:

Project Development Stages:

1. Initial data collection and 3D model preparation for collaborative work

  1. Detect and correct system errors
  2. 3D frame model geometry checking
  3. 3D frame model attributes checking and adjusting
  4. AutoConnection Plugin utilization
  5. Uploading the model to ModelSharing

2. Modeling of connections and secondary elements

  1. Editing connections with complex configuration
  2. Ladders and railings modelling
  3. Modelling of gratings

Design of steel structure connections in Tekla
Thanks to the automation, availability of the parametric component base and use of AutoConnection function,

3. Conducting 3D model checks for errors and preparing drawings for further development

  1. Checking drawings for collisions of single parts and fasteners
  2. Completeness check
  3. Verification of attributes for single parts and assemblies

4. Single part drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings development

  1. Single part drawings
  2. Assembly drawings
  3. General arrangement drawings

Assembly drawing

5. Reviewing and compiling documentation for submission to the client

  1. Preliminary export of documents for internal review
  2. Visual and automated verification of the documents
  3. Final export and submission of documents to the Client

Verification stage includes:

  • Direct quality check by the document's developer (design engineer)
  • Quality check by a team leader or senior specialist
  • Quality check by the head of the department
  • Quality assistance
  • Automated quality check using TEKLA Structures tools

Quality check using TEKLA Structures

What are the significant results?

1 Time needed for the project has been reduced by more than 2 times (due to high level of automation)

2 Man-hours for routine operations are reduced thanks to AutoConnection

3 The quality of 3D models and production documentation has been improved through the use of developed and validated parametric components, automation, prototype drawings and and multi-level document verification

4 Automation and thorough checks have minimized collisions among individual parts, assemblies, and fasteners. This has also reduced queries from metal structure manufacturers and minimized issues raised by construction and installation companies, as we have effectively eliminated all potential errors.

Our engineers have extensive exprience in multicultural projects worldwide. We are able to complete challenging projects and meeting customer requirements. No project is too small or too large for ENECA's engineers—we are skilled to handle any task! Whether you need assistance in designing industrial, commercial, or residential buildings, boiler houses, plants, CHP, and more, we are here to help.
