Success Story: Claire Coe
Claire joined Onecom in November 2015 when her journey began in the customer service department as an Enterprise Account Manager. Claire was looking after some of our medium sized businesses, using her expertise in building long lasting and committed relationships. Within three months she was promoted to Corporate Account Manager and enlisted to manage and support one of Onecom’s biggest customers. Claire said: “I absolutely loved managing that account, speaking to the thousands of users and ensuring they received the best service! It had become my passion.”
At Onecom we advertise all vacancies internally and externally as we are passionate about the personal growth and development of our people. In June 2019 Claire had the opportunity to apply for a Customer Service Manager role in the Customer Care Department. Although she was not successful on this occasion, Claire learned from the experience – her attitude is one of strength and determination and she has always picked herself and pushed forward with the next available opportunity.
“I didn’t get this job, but I received some brilliant feedback that I was able use this to work on myself. I then really focused on the feedback I had been given to ensure I was ready to apply again for a management position.”
When a job opportunity came around in 2020, Claire was snapped up for the Customer Service Manager role which she began last May. She said “I was so relieved and proud to find out that I got the role! This was a massive turning point for me as I had worked in management previously in jobs before Onecom but didn’t know how to manage the “Onecom way”. Finally, I had built myself up and improved myself through feedback to get where I wanted to be.”
Claire’s manager, Moyna Good said “Claire has shown the most perseverance and resilience and has been rewarded with her role of Customer Service Manager. She has mastered every role she has had at Onecom to a high calibre and is an exemplary member of staff. I am very happy to have her in the Business Team.”
As part of Claire’s personal development journey, she enrolled in our internal Mentoring Programme. She was partnered up with our Head of New Business Lead Generation Nicola Grosvenor-Hagan. Claire explains: “This was such a brilliant scheme to be part of – Nicola helped me to build myself and my reputation within Onecom and gave me the confidence to apply for the role I am now in. If anyone is thinking of applying for the mentoring scheme, I would strongly advise doing it!”
A final note from Claire about her journey with Onecom:
“I love the family I work with – when I first started in 2015 there were just over 200 employees, it was a small company, and everyone knew everyone! Now it is growing and there are lots of people I can’t wait to work with and grow my network. I am so excited to meet new people at the Christmas parties to see what more I can do at Onecom. If I could give any advice to anyone, I would say go for the role, get the feedback and use it. Positivity will then push you to do so much better in yourself!”
