Supporting Vatsalya Trust Balikashram – A home for destitute and orphaned girls in India

At Nouryon, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we operate. As part of Nouryon’s corporate social responsibility initiative, the Nouryon India team has been supporting Vatsalya Trust Balikashram – an orphanage for underprivileged girls since 2022.

Vatsalya Trust is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on rehabilitation and social integration while enabling sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable sections of the society including underprivileged and destitute girls at the Vatsalya Trust Balikashram. The Balikashram was founded in 2000 at Navi Mumbai, India, and houses approximately 50 girls between the ages of 6 and 18 years. The children are provided shelter, nourishment, and medical care along with educational and developmental support. The Trust focuses on providing children with higher education and vocational training to assist in acquiring secure jobs and building self-reliance.

“At Nouryon India, we continue to invest in the communities where we operate through volunteerism and financial support with focus on underserved children and education,” said Shrikant Kulkarni, Nouryon India Managing Director. “Our employees appreciate the opportunity to work with the Vatsalya Trust Balikashram to positively impact the lives of the girls through care, skill-building, and education.”

In addition to providing financial support, Nouryon employees volunteer to work with the children by engaging them in discussions to enhance their communication skills and participating in events including birthday celebrations, quiz competitions, and games.

In 2022, the Nouryon India team launched a community program with the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Mahad to provide essential laboratory instruments and other equipment for students. Additionally, Nouryon hosted its first-ever Global Month of Service in September 2022 that resulted in 24 projects across 8 countries with a focus on supporting underserved children in communities around the world. Nouryon teams in Mumbai and Mahad joined by delivering educational materials to local schools.
