Sustainability at Mercedes me Store

Sustainability at Mercedes me Store

What a year it has been for sustainability initiatives at Mercedes me Store Melbourne.

The space has achieved carboNZero certification, an internationally recognized carbon neutral accreditation in compliance with ISO 14064-1, and has been committed to lowering environmental impact across all facets of the business.

We have continued our support of City of Melbourne's global climate leadership efforts and engaged some of Australia's most innovative talents to showcase important community topics in store. Eco-champion Joost Bakker's incredible plastic waste installation is a great example - which featured 135kgs of plastic waste (the amount generated by the ave Australian each year)

In collaboration with ST. ALi, the store has also banished disposable single use items such as disposable coffee cups and replaced with reusable, closed loop solutions such as Returnr and The Cup Exchange, launching both products in the Australian market.

Our team also continue to curate an exciting calendar of events, activations and installations, many of which shine a light on sustainability and environmental impact in the community. The store acts as the platform from which we can host in conversation evenings across a diverse range of topics. Already these have included:

 - National Gallery of Victoria in conversation evening with award-winning environmental artist and designer, Brodie Neill. Brodie’s latest work, the Flotsam bench, is made from ocean plastic terrazzo, and has been purchased by Mercedes me Store. The piece is display in store every day

 - In conversation evening with Tim Silverwood, Co-founder and CEO of ‘Take 3 for the Sea’, a not-for-profit organisation that has built a movement to clean up our oceans.

- In conversation evenings in collaboration with The Design Files such as with eco champion Joost Bakker, and Jeremy McLeod from sustainable design firm 'Breathe Architecture'

- Our collaboration with The Plant Society also continues to provide natural plants and greenery which enhance customer mood, ambience and improve air quality.
