Talent Spotlight: Get on brand with art director and SCAD student Elisa Boulton
Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, art director Elisa Boulton (B.F.A. advertising and branding) has already made a big impression on industry giants. Thanks to professional collaborations through SCADpro , the university’s innovation and design studio, her portfolio includes career-making work for Deloitte, Fender, and Walmart. These real-world campaigns have empowered her with highly valuable professional experience and exposure.
SCAD: What's your creative superpower?
Boulton: As a creative, I am a dual-tip colored pen. One side represents my bold American perspective, and the other represents my resourceful Venezuelan roots. This duality allows me to approach stories and concepts from unique angles I might not have considered otherwise. It helps me discover new ways to share ideas, make them relatable, and bridge gaps to connect people. It enables me to adapt my storytelling to global audiences who can understand and resonate with my art, regardless of their background. This versatility supports me as the art director of the SCAD digital magazine, SCAN.
SCAD: Tell us about your proudest portfolio piece.
Boulton: My proudest portfolio piece is the Walmart x SCADpro project. The project was unforgettable. My team and I worked incredibly hard to make it happen. It taught me so much, with many ups and downs; those challenges strengthened us as creatives and provided a real glimpse into the industry. The best part is that Walmart implemented our work, and it’s now featured on their social media platforms.
SCAD: Most impactful SCAD career opportunity?
Boulton: SCAD has provided countless professional opportunities, from connecting me with incredible creative professionals to helping me land internships. The most impactful experiences have been the three SCADpro projects I participated in. I began working on SCADpro projects during my first quarter as a sophomore and spent the rest of that year working back-to-back with companies like Deloitte, Fender, and Walmart, where I took on project management roles. These real-world experiences showed me what working in a professional setting is like. They solidified my passion and helped me realize exactly what I want.
