Taranaki Technology is Evolving

These are strange, challenging times. A lot of businesses are failing (or are about to), and a lot of new ones need to get going in order to keep us all going. It's time for us to Re-Invent ourselves and our businesses.

Most believe that such innovation starts with an idea when in fact it starts with a problem. Gaining this understanding will be exciting to anyone paying attention to how many problems still need solving. 

There is no shortage of Problems and there never will be, so it's not possible to run out of Ideas.

Investment and funding are often NOT firmly grounded in reality - too often we squander our precious resources re-inventing the wheel. We practically worship entrepreneurs, when all that really matters at the very beginning is the idea and its context. We also let our relationships as friends and relatives affect our decisions about where to invest time and money. But as Sir Paul Callaghan said, "good ideas can come from anywhere", so that is where we should be looking - everywhere! The opposite is also true - bad ideas can come from anywhere, including from entrepreneurs who have had previous success.

That's why I am pleased to announce "Invented Again", a game show with one purpose - to increase the total number of successful ventures by reducing wasted effort. How? By showing the ways in which Ideas are not new - each has a history and it's critical to know as much as we can as quickly and cheaply as possible before money and time are wasted.

Knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss. That's why it's often scary to actually put your dream to the novelty test - we crave that rush of excitement that our vision could change the world, or make us rich, or even just earn us enough to pay the bills. Putting it to the test opens us up to the (very likely) possibility that the reality of the opportunity is not quite what we hoped. But don't worry - we’re gonna help you through and you will be a better, more honest entrepreneur for it.

1. Submit Ideas as an "Ideator"
2. Join the Invented Again team as we race the clock to find prior art relevant to each idea submitted
3. Sponsor Us (Either just general support or sponsor an Idea or other segment)
4. Spread the Word - share this article and our website inventedagain.com
5. Use Invented Again as part of your curriculum as a teacher

We believe that the best way forward for NZ is through cheap, fast, rigorous validation. This might sound painful, but don't worry! We are a truly supportive bunch that will do everything we can to help you pivot if the opportunity takes a different shape than you thought. And if you have anything truly novel, we will do everything we can to get you moving in the right direction with advice, prototyping, and our network of experts in every field. And we will do this WITHOUT demanding a share of your company.
