Tarkett's Sustainability Initiatives Take Center Stage

In a world where the construction and building sector remains responsible for 70% of waste and 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, sustainability has long been an urgent topic. We acknowledge this challenge and are committed to being part of the solution.

In this newsletter, we wish to focus on our approach in addressing the climate crisis. We aspire to contribute to sustainable solutions in a world that urgently needs them. An example of this was showcased at the sustainability conference ChangeNOW , where our CEO Fabrice Barthélemy took part in a panel discussion on sustainable urban development and how to retrofit buildings.

Speaking up about sustainability

It's all about taking a stand against the climate crisis while still keeping Tarkett's focus on design and good materials. Our CEO underscored our commitment at ChangeNOW:

○ Tarkett's Restart® program has enabled us to collect the equivalent of 12 Eiffel Towers (119,000 tons) of flooring over the last 13 years

○ We want to create indoor spaces that contribute to sustainable well-being, focusing on factors like air quality, soundproofing, and comfort in our products.

○ Retrofitting buildings allows us to reduce carbon footprints by incorporating recycled materials.

Show us the numbers!

We've got loads of initiatives backing up our ambitions, and the numbers speak for themselves:

○ 44% of our energy consumption sourced from renewable electricity in 2023

○ 29 countries participating in the Restart® take-back and recycling program

○ 500 employees engaged in the Tarkett Cares program in 2023

We do what we can, but also acknowledge that there is still much work to be done on creating a more sustainable future. Explore our 2023 CSR report here.

Sport, design, and sustainability come together

We believe in tackling the world's challenges while adding a sprinkle of fun into the mix. In the recently unveiled “RePlay”, a collaboration with designer Constance Guisset, sport, design, and sustainability come together. This isn't your ordinary table tennis table—it's quite a masterpiece crafted from recycled Tarkett flooring.

While we enjoyed some fun matches, the conversations around the table were far from casual: With a vision to become the most sustainable flooring and sports surfaces company by 2030, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint by 30%. Our ambitious climate roadmap aligns with global initiatives like the Paris Climate Agreement.

Thats all for now, folks

We're doing our best to lead the way and Tarkett is committed to pushing sustainability forward. Thank you for reading and see you next time!
