A Tattoo For Health

A Tattoo For Health

At 70, I have my first tattoo.

You will never see it, but it is there.

I earned it as part of my recent colonoscopy screen. At 43, I started colon screening, and I have religiously scheduled regular screenings at four-year increments.

This year, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. The tattoo placed in the colon around the cancer will help doctors with future screening that now needs to be done annually.

I am fine. The Stage 0 cancer was caught early. (Thank heavens!) The testing for the spread was negative, so the only residual is my new tattoo.

Why am I writing this article? Colon cancer is a silent killer. Get screened.
