Team Talks: Insights in our internal HR

Welcome to another edition of Team Talks, where we share the inspiring stories and experiences of our team members at Parakar. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing Kim, our HR Officer. Her journey with Parakar is an example of professional growth, and the vibrant culture that defines our company.

How it started

Can you tell us how you ended up at Parakar and what attracted you to the company?

I first connected with Parakar through LinkedIn when I was searching for a graduation internship. Esmee, who I knew through mutual friends, reached out with an opportunity. After a positive interview, I felt a strong connection with the company. The international scope, young and ambitious team, and the chance to dive deep into HR were compelling reasons for me to join.

In September 2022, I began my graduation internship in Parakar’s internal HR department, which lasted 10 months. I graduated in June 2023 from the Hotel Management program and transitioned into a full-time role at Parakar. From day one, I felt at home, constantly learning and growing in my role.

What aspects of Parakar’s company culture make it a unique place to work for you?

Parakar stands out as a people-centric company with a young, ambitious team. The international aspect and diverse cultures enrich our work environment. We are flexible, future-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.

Personal development and growth are highly valued, and our colleagues are truly the best! Plus, our office location next to the park is just amazing.

Kim’s Journey at Parakar

Could you share your journey briefly at Parakar so far?

I started as an intern handling administrative tasks, then progressed to participating in the recruitment process, including candidate searches and interviews. As I gained more HR knowledge, I started making more decisions and taking on additional responsibilities. Now, I lead my own projects and manage the internal HR department alongside the HR Business Partner, Esmee.

Could you share an example of some work you’re proud of?

Over the past two years, I’ve grown from an intern to an HR professional, acquiring knowledge across ten countries. I’m proud of the opportunities Parakar has provided me and the supportive team that makes it all possible. Being able to support our employees is what I love most about my job.

What are some of the key responsibilities and challenges you encounter in your role as HR officer at Parakar?

My responsibilities include managing contracts and amendments, tracking HR numbers, administering our HRM system, improving the HR department, working on projects, and arranging internal events and celebrations. One of the main challenges is needing in-depth knowledge of HR practices across ten countries, given our widespread European workforce. However, our local HR experts are a big help and have extremely detailed knowledge of local labour laws.

How do you stay motivated and inspired at work?

The diversity of my duties ensures no two days are the same. Brainstorm sessions with my team and access to a personal development budget for courses or studies keep me motivated and inspired.

What’s next?

How do you see the future, and how do you think Parakar will continue to differentiate itself in this industry?

There’s still much to optimize in our internal HR processes. Parakar’s commitment to delivering unique services and focusing on the future sets us apart in the industry.

Lastly, what would you like to share with others considering entering or applying to Parakar?

Parakar feels like a family. Our young and ambitious team, open culture, and collective dedication to our goals make it a great place to work. There are plenty of opportunities for development, and the company genuinely cares about its employees.

If you’re looking for a place that values hard work, collaboration, and growth, Parakar is the place to be!
