Tech for Good Jobs and Resources

For those of you impacted by the tech layoffs, have you ever considered a career in public service? While, ok, the pay is not always as much as in #SiliconValley, the tradeoffs in having more #worklifebalance, #PTO time or federal holidays, and incredibly fulfilling #missions more than make up for the difference.

For more cool public service job postings, definitely follow Jenn Gustetic at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration . I'll also add that there are often special #hiringauthorities in place for jobs in #cybersecurity roles that are deemed mission critical. What does that mean? It often is a less arduous application process to find and apply for jobs in this area. Check out this website for some current openings.

My amazing coworker, Jodi Schneiderman also had this incredible advice for student interested in tech jobs in the public sector. A lot of the resources are helpful for those interested in more senior roles, as well!

"Did you know there is an entire sector of employment available to those of you interested in using technology skills to make a social impact? Terminology you may see used to designate this career path includes Public Interest Technology (PIT), Technologists for Good, CivicTech, GovTech, and Social Impact Technology. Here are a few resources to help you learn more about this exciting sector.

I'll also add that this doesn't even begin to cover the need at state and local governments. So while you are looking - check these resources out where you can use your skills for the #publicgood!
