“There’s no place like home” - Remote/Hybrid is here to stay

Someone once told me before you were born to not blink for even one second, pay close attention to every sound and movement you made and be by your side for as long as possible. 4 months have flown by my son! We've watched every single change, large and small, caught every single first, celebrating with you along the way. We've stared at you for countless hours in admiration while you stare back at us with the most beautiful smile a human can have, now chuckling at us for saying "kisses". You're nothing but love and happiness my boy and we can't wait to watch your journey unfold…

“There’s no place like home”. Let that sync in for a moment, as the world pushes for a #RTO in a physical form. People don’t want to go into the office everyday - at most, 2 to 3 days a week. Employees want options: when and where to collaborate with their co-workers (virtually or in the office), an option to commute (which we all know is taxing and very stressful), an option where to complete their work in the most productive and efficient way, an option to spend more time with their family (I know I do).

Countless articles and posts are being released with this ridiculous message with a tailored agenda…

-     “People who WFH are less productive”

-     “You can’t hustle if you’re not in the office”

-     “Discover what people are really doing as WFH employees”

-     “WFH employees risk not receiving raises…”

"When associates feel empowered to own their careers, they in turn drive companies’ success. Employers who offer flexible work see a 15% increase in productivity, 31% less absenteeism and 10% less turnover." - PepsiCo

Poll after poll, survey after survey…they all point to one answer….Remote and Hybrid are here to stay! The scare tactics that are being pushed are from the people that have a vested interest. They want you to think you “need” space in order to be “productive” and be able to “earn a promotion”. The pandemic proved quite the contrary. Sure, there’s no one size fits all in this and some will want to go into the office 5 days a week – go ahead! But for those that don’t, flexibility is what matters and that’s being recognized at all levels.

I’ve been blessed to watch my son grow month after month during the most crucial time of his life as a result of flexibility. That is incredibly important to me. The pandemic has allowed us to assess and reevaluate what's important to us and what our purpose in life is. What’s important to you? Is your employer hearing you…taking your thoughts and feelings into consideration? Are they providing flexibility? I guess we’ll see which organizations adapt. For the ones that don’t…well…thank you for making it easy to hire your best talent! 😊
