🎦 Ethiopia to Build Rail Link Between Awash Fuel Depot and Djibouti’s Horizon Terminal
Lobito Corridor may be the most exciting rail corridor in Africa, but it’s not the only one! This railway project aims to streamline oil loading services at the Horizon Terminal for Ethiopia, facilitate fuel transportation between the two nations, foster economic growth, and increase trade. The project is expected to be launched in the upcoming Ethiopian year of 2017 (Ethiopia will welcome 2017 on September 11).
Following discussions between Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and a Djibouti delegation led by Energy Minister Younis Ali Guedi, both countries agreed to proceed with the railway project. After a technical review, a construction contract was signed in September.

A train derailment on Angola’s Lobito Corridor has impacted the haulage of commodities including copper concentrates, the company operating the railway line said on Friday. 📰 Zambia and Congo Reopen Their Border After Resolving a Trade Dispute
Zambia announced on Sunday it had closed its border with its northern neighbor after Congo imposed a ban on the import of soft drinks and beer from Zambia. That resulted in protests by Congolese truckers near the border town of Kasumbalesa. Zambian business groups also criticized the ban. 📸 After a 30-Year Pause, The Railway Connection Between Algeria and Tunisia is Officially Back
The train line, covering a distance of 357 kilometers, will initially offer one daily service between Annaba in Algeria and Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, passing through several cities in both countries. The service was initially halted in 1995 due to security concerns and subsequently suspended again in 2003 due to technical issues.
