Tips for Creating a Zen Zone at Home
There’s no place like home. It’s your refuge. Well, it should be anyways – a place to relax and rejuvenate after dealing with the stressors of daily life. That’s why I highly recommend having a Zen zone at home.
What is a Zen zone? It’s a space for relaxation or meditation in your home or garden. Winding down from a hectic day is key to having a restful night (hands up if you desperately need one) – something that’s essential to optimal learning, memory, and brain restoration and functioning. If you have a dedicated room to wind down – great. If not, don’t worry. A little space on your patio or a corner in a room can work just as well.
Tips for Creating a Zen Zone at Home
No matter the size of your relaxing space, here are a few things you can do to help set the mood.
Pops of Color: Your haven should also inspire happiness and positivity. To help achieve this, throw in some brightly colored accessories such as pillows or artwork. Cluster them together to form a focal point to help focus the mind.

Lighting: During the day, throw back the blinds and take advantage of natural light coming in. In the evening, light up the dark space with gentle, warm lighting for a calming mood.
Keep Your Family Close: Surrounding yourself with pictures of loved ones and happy memories adds warmth to a space and can make you feel good.
Clear Clutter: I know I’m not the only one who feels stressed when surrounded by clutter! When decorating your Zen zone, take a minimalist approach. The less stuff you have to deal with, the easier it is to keep tidy; which equals less stress.
