A tool and guide to simplify your cell seeding calculations

A tool and guide to simplify your cell seeding calculations

Everyone that works with cells has their own ritual for calculating seeding density. Whether you meticulously write out every step in your notebook, use a spreadsheet on the computer next to the microscope, or repeatedly type it into your calculator to make sure you didn’t make any mistakes, this calculation is a core part of your daily life. Having an accurate seeding density is essential to ensure valid results for any cell-based assay.

While not impossible to do manually, there are few feelings worse than ruining a months-long experiment due to a math error on day 1. To prevent this, we developed a tool to calculate cell seeding dilutions based on your starting stock concentration and target well numbers and volumes.

  1. Enter your starting cell suspension information (either the suspension density or hemocytometer values).
  2. Enter your target plating conditions. Use the + for multiple densities.
  3. Click the Calculate Results button.

Results include:

  • total cells
  • needed cells
  • stock calculations

We hope that saves you some time!
