Top Ways to Repel Candidates: Dud Tips for Recruiters

Aren’t you tired of candidates actually responding to your emails? Everyone knows that a well-written email increases the chances of a candidate's reply, so today, we share a handy guide to guarantee radio silence in your inbox.

Disclaimer: please don't follow these "tips".

  • Don't include a subject line: Intrigue them! Why would a candidate know who is writing to them and why? You might want to avoid mentioning your name or the company you work for. It’s all about mystery.

  • Generic talk: sprinkle your job description with words like "interesting," "professional," "famous," and "unique" without providing any specifics. Candidates will surely want to attend the interviews to reveal the company secrets!

  • Misspell a candidate's name: It will deter a specialist's attention from your email and leave an unforgettable impression. This might lead them to block further communication from you.

  • Include several links in your email so Google and other services will mark them as spam. Candidates will simply miss your email.

  • Use mass email services: It only takes a minute to reach over a hundred candidates. Don't worry if a Senior C++ developer gets an email for a junior UI designer position – you might just hit on their secret aspirations!

  • Embrace creativity: highlight words with italics, go wild with Caps Lock, play with colours, and add extra exclamation marks! Your email will stand out. Also, don't forget emojis! 😜

  • Keep it informal: Why so boring? Begin your emails with a casual "What's up?" and sprinkle plenty of jokes.

By following these tips all at once, you will definitely receive 0 responses to your emails.
