What advice do you have for other women in your field?

I would advise women in my field to negotiate what they want and deserve. This might be your starting salary, a raise or even a project opportunity. I would also advise to be assertive and confident in your abilities and contributions. Voice your ideas, opinions, and solutions in meetings.

Who serves as a role model to you in your life and/or career?

My mom serves as my role model in life and career.  She raised 2 kids in the inner city of Philadelphia as a single parent.  She instilled the importance of education, working hard, perseverance, kindness, compassion, and generosity. My list could go on.

What motivates you in your life and/or career?

Involvement in a project from start to finish and the importance of our inspection projects motivates me.  The ability to see a project from the beginning, in the pink/red team creating a winning technical letter or practicing for an interview or presentation, to performing the scoping inspecting, design , producing contract plans and reviewing shop drawings is so motivating!  Getting to see that final project built is an amazing feeling!

What do you love about working at TranSystems? How has TranSystems helped you succeed/grow in your career?

There is so much I love about working at TranSystems.  I started as an intern 21 years ago and have gone thru life’s biggest milestone here.  From getting married to becoming a mother of 2 boys.   Throughout that time TranSystems has always been supportive of work life balance.  I also love my work family; we have worked together many years and have a fantastic working relationship. TranSystems has provided so much variety in the type of work I perform from inspections to analysis to design, it keeps it interesting to have the variety of work and overcome the different challenges each unique project brings.
