Tricky customer ratings, a healthcare revolution and all things electric

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Time to unwrap another quick burst of #WednesdayWisdom. In this week’s value-add minute, Accenture people serve up fresh insights on the most influential research, opinions and ideas shaping the future of business.

1. What if health systems actually worked like systems?

Accenture’s Scott Cullen shares a bold new vision for a more efficient, seamless patient care journey.

  • Fact: Healthcare today is reactive, not proactive. That’s because most care teams lack the predictive tools and data insights they need.
  • Embracing AI and automation can digitally transform healthcare, streamlining blizzards of paperwork, reducing risks and delivering better care at lower costs.

2. Must-know opportunities for a demand-driven electric decade

  • From electric trucks to electric cities and beyond, electricity will become increasingly front and center. The winners will be those who choose the right innovations and execute them with C-suite backing.
  • Championing scalable technologies such as electric and renewable heating solutions is the answer. Heat pumps like these could meet nearly 65% of residential heating system sales by 2030.
  • Significant economic opportunities abound. Case in point: Approximately 40% of industrial emissions by 2050 can be abated via the electrification of light industries using low-carbon tech.

Why scale will determine success or failure in an increasingly electric world.

3. Is getting four stars better than getting five?

Accenture’s Edwin Van der Ouderaa dissects why the best online customer ratings aren’t always a good thing.

  • Surprise: Businesses are wise not to strive for 100% five-star ratings. Why? Customers could assume that overly positive reviews come from biased family members, employees or others with a vested interest.
  • Sometimes it’s better when a company receives a two-star review and thoughtfully responds to negative feedback, opening up more impactful dialogues and building trust.

Learn what many consumers care about even more than great ratings.

4. Exploring change from every angle

Get an inside—and super interactive—look at how we ignite change to create value for our clients, our people and our community.

  •  Take a behind-the-scenes look at how we teamed up with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to digitally revamp its business processes—from every angle, literally.
  • CMHC’s total tech renewal supported 13 new housing programs, bringing the organization closer to its goal of helping everyone in Canada have a home they can afford that fits their needs by 2030.

5. Getting food to families in need: The Farmlink Project

When Accenture’s Will Collier found out that billions of pounds of produce go to waste while millions of Americans go hungry, he decided to make a difference.

  • Will and his twin brother Ben founded The Farmlink Project to help families coping with food insecurity in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
  • So far, the volunteer group has delivered more than 31 million pounds of food to food banks in 47 US states.

Digitization, automation and AI adoption for health(care) systems would be welcome and helpful here in Germany. COVID has highlighted the severity of the gaps. Make it work more like real systems!
