Trinity is First Railcar Manufacturer in North America to Receive Pair of ISO Certifications

All TrinityRail facilities and TrinityHQ achieved ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Safety) certification, making TrinityRail the only railcar manufacturer in North America certified to both rigorous standards.

According to the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 45001:2018 specifies a framework for an occupational health and safety management system and that provides companies with guidance to improve their safety performance. Operating under a system that conforms to the ISO standard helps Trinity to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and illness, by working proactively to improve health and safety performance. ISO 14001:2015 provides a framework focused on environmental management. ISO 14001:2015 specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that organizations can use to enhance its environmental performance.

“This is a great achievement for Trinity and a major milestone for our Environmental, Health and Safety program,” said Dennis Lencioni, Vice President of EH&S. “These certifications are a reflection of our collective commitment to continually improve our EH&S performance.”

It took a tremendous effort over the span of three years to obtain the certifications.

“Achieving ISO 14001 and 45001 certification is just the beginning of the journey to advance our environmental and safety programs,’’ added John Nadzen, Senior Director of EH&S. “This perpetual style of EH&S system management will ultimately drive better performance, behaviors, and results.”

Although obtaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification was an arduous process, the certifications pave the way for many long-term benefits for our organization. These certifications are true indicators of our commitment to the safety of our employees and good stewardship of our planet’s resources.

“By achieving certification to the ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, Trinity has demonstrated its commitment to meet our ultimate goal of zero injuries and incidents, to minimize impacts to natural resources and the environment, and to continually improve our processes, practices and systems to advance EHS Performance,” said Lencioni.
