The True Meaning Behind NAAM
“Adoption is complicated, but it is also rich with narratives of strength.” — Jillian Lauren
Originating in 1984 by President Regan as a way to raise awareness for children in foster care awaiting adoption, National Adoption Month, or National Adoption Awareness Month, has transformed in the last 20 years. Now, NAAM is a way to listen to, learn from, and elevate the often unheard voices of the adoption constellation - adoptees and birth parents. We encourage you to join us in listening to the perspectives of adoptees and birth parents all month long.
