Waterless Fire Suppression - 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid

Technology:  it’s what drives our world today - and protecting the electronic systems that provide for our technology-driven businesses and lifestyles is essential. Today, more and more IT professionals are turning to an advanced fire suppression clean agent known as 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. Based on environmentally sustainable chemistry, this waterless fire suppression fluid is specifically designed to balance the unique and challenging needs for protecting critical assets. Stored as a liquid but discharged as a gas, Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid quickly penetrates tight enclosures and obstructions, providing fast, effective fire extinguishment often before a fire even reaches the “flame” stage. It has no effect on energized electronics or mechanical components, leaves no residue, and is non-conductive, allowing systems to remain operational. Novec 1230 fluid also offers the largest margin of safety among clean agents for use in occupied spaces.

Can someone from 3M confirm or deny that Novec 1230 leaves a residue that is extremely hydroscopic?? I have heard this from several sources and urgently need to know if it is true? We have many customers with this chemical suppression installed at their sites and often specify it on new potential clients sites and risks. If there is any truth, it's something we need to seriously consider as this could cause component failure the same as water would, the only difference is water based systems focus on points where the fire is only, Novec contacts 100% of all electrical components and parts so if hydroscopic could cause major component failure across the who risk after a fire or false activation. I look forward to hearing from someone who actually knows.
