Robert Fleming will take the helm of the space systems business of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), assuming the corporate vice president and sector president roles in place of Tom Wilson, on Oct. 9. Private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners has agreed to purchase secure business collaboration platforms provider Exostar from software investment firm Thoma Bravo for an undisclosed sum. Washington, D.C.-based Arlington will help Exostar further expand its service offerings, drive product development and advance growth initiatives through the transaction, which is expected to be finalized by the end of 2023.
Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) rotary and mission systems business has secured a potential seven-year, $1.05 billion contract to help the U.S. Navy integrate a combat management system across the Surface Force. The defense contractor will provide systems engineering and software integration services for the Integrated Combat System supporting the Navy and Coast Guard.
Rob Murray, former head of innovation at NATO, has joined the U.S. arm of Swedish defense contractor Saab as chief innovation officer. He will directly report to Michael Brasseur, vice president and chief strategy officer, within the newly created strategy office of Saab Inc.
William LaPlante, under secretary for acquisition and sustainment at the Department of Defense, said DOD is pushing to get the Standard Missile-6, Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile, Patriot Advanced Capability-3 and other munitions and weapons systems on multiyear contracts, which he said would play an important role in an extended conflict in the Indo-Pacific region.

Gen. Randy George has been sworn in as chief of staff of the U.S. Army after being confirmed by a vote in the Senate. Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said George is a “battle-tested soldier and seasoned leader who has been a critically important champion for the Army as Vice Chief of Staff and as Acting Chief.”
