We're the Biggest Splash in Others’ Lives

To kick things back off, I decided to go where I feel most uncomfortable, writing on big topics like this one today. I remember a while back someone said to me; forget the SEO, and the Linkedin algorithm, because writing on a platform like Linkedin, where people are ready for you, like a panel of hungry experts, waiting on you to blunder. you'll never enjoy the process of writing, and getting your articles published.

That, someone, was me, when I was starting with The Human In YOU  last year in November 2021, I first published my first article: Courage - See - yourself- as- an- Eagle,- not - a - Chicken  I was nervous.

Since I promised that I will be expanding my network, let me remind you: I’m not writing for numbers or fame, and some people here are a lot smarter on every topic that I write about than I am. I write from the heart, and I try to read and talk to as many people as possible to help me get clear with my writings, especially when we’re talking about topics as big as we’re talking about today, I’m going to miss a lot of nuances, and probably get some things wrong. We’re learning together, right?

Without further ado, Let's dive in.

We shouldn’t be surprised that so many people and leaders today want to have more influence and an impact on others' lives. Frankly, I do not get bothered when people ask me how I got where I am today, It's all about being kind and true to yourself.

I want you to consider this thought with me before we start: Today, If you were to find Ten thousand Rand in a bundle of notes on the street, would you think; ‘If I had lost this much money, then how much pain would I feel? So how much pain must this person be feeling?’

Are you going to place an advertisement in the newspaper that, ‘The person who has lost money, please claim it with proof of ownership and reimburse the cost of running this advertisement?’ That's Humanity because just as you feel pain, the other person must also be feeling pain; you can understand this much, can’t you?

Such thoughts should arise for you in every situation. But nowadays, such humanity has been forgotten and has vanished! All this misery is due to this! People are only wrapped up in their selfishness. That is not considered human. These days, people say, “Whatever has been found is free for me to keep, isn’t it!” Well then, what you have lost is also free for the other person to keep, isn’t it?

You see, we have the power to create a different world one filled with peace, harmony, and joy with those around us; our choice to respond positively to the good inside us is perhaps the most basic and far-reaching decision we can make.

If we give happiness to others, then we will keep getting happiness. If we maintain worldly interaction to give happiness, then we will attain happiness in worldly interactions. And if we maintain the worldly interaction to give pain, then we will receive pain in worldly interactions. Therefore, if we want happiness, then give happiness to everyone in worldly interactions, and if we want pain, then give pain.

Through my studies, I've found out that everyone today wants to do something that matters. The problem is that we may not have a clear understanding of what makes the biggest splash. We confuse popularity with kindness. We equate being known with having influence. They're not often the same.

The biggest splash isn’t as big as it seems. Those ripples fade fast. The cannonball guy can make people go Insane, and then 3 seconds later they’re looking for the next person to jump or they turn back to their conversations at the pool party.

Here are 5 ways you and I can make the biggest splash, one with ripples that will continue for decades:

  1. Model up close how to be faithful, vibrant, and charitable.
  2. Lead with integrity, even when no one is looking… because they are looking.
  3. Encourage and invest in others' success.
  4. Be diligent to listen to the desires of those around you.

As much as I enjoyed writing this article today, I hope you too, you'll enjoy it!

Marcus "Human Citizen" Malesela, glad to see you're taking it one step at a time. I enjoy seeing that your newsletter inspires you and your readers.. Out of the 4 ways given to make the biggest splash, I'd like to say that charitable contributions should be one of those at the top of the list, which you may see being performed by some of the humblest leaders. I have interviewed professionals with this amazing quality. Also, investing in another's success is very important. Give value and help them to develop and continue growing for a lifetime. Great article, my friend.
