WGE 2019 innovation training kick-off

WGE 2019 innovation training kick-off

This week marked the launch of our 2019 innovation training programme. These training sessions aim to upskill the mechanical team in what we believe to be the emerging technologies of the immediate future. Running fortnightly, I will take our 26-strong mechanical team through a variety of topics, including:

  • Advanced Revit training
  • Engineering through Revit
  • Advanced Navisworks training
  • Real-time rendering / VR
  • Reality capture
  • Visual Scripting

It was inspiring to see the teams enthusiasm to engage with innovative, technology driven ways to improve what we do while also investing in their own careers. Upskilling staff is a constant process and we believe investing in staff now is crucial to adjust to an ever-changing market and stay at the forefront of technology as it shapes our careers and lives.

Having one or two 'tech guru's' in your company is helpful but, having an entire workforce engaged and trained in proven cutting edge technology is significantly more powerful. These sessions will further improve how we deliver projects by incorporating new technologies into our daily workflows. Technology enables us to enhance how we communicate and design. This will ultimately deliver improved outcomes for our clients.

I will post periodic updates throughout the year to share our experiences from these training sessions and hopefully help educate others who may be starting off down this path. Improving our industry as a whole benefits us all and, I look forward to contributing where I can.

I can vouch to the value of this. Steve was with us for 1 year in Vancouver and changed the way we approach design.
