What is "Living Above the line"?

Grab a sheet of paper and draw a horizontal line across the page.

Above the line write these words:

     ACCEPT, ACCOUNTABLE, and RESPONSIBLE

Underneath that line write the words which are just the opposite:

     SHAME, BLAME and JUSTIFY

Here are the rules of the “game.”  I encourage you to include your co-workers, friends and family. Together, watch your lives change.

Predetermine the amount of money that will be the reminder amount (as opposed to penalty), the time frame and how the funds will be spent when the game is up.  Have fun with this. The idea is to improve and grow!

See if you can live your life above the line:

  1. No shaming yourself or others (Forgive, accept & focus on solutions)
  2. No blaming yourself, others or blaming circumstances (Own it, face reality, focus on solutions)
  3. No justifying or making excuses for yourself or anyone else (Own it, face reality, focus on solutions)

If you catch yourself in an action or thought that is below the line, put $____ in the jar

You may also “catch” the other players and they will have to put $____ in the jar!  (However … Be nice and catch people withlove!

After the game is up, discuss what you’ve learned from the game and share “Ahas”

Strive to live above the line – always!
