What is the New World?

Today, Western Australia goes back to work - Returning To Work - RTH. What a strange thing to say? For weeks the world has been Working From Home - WFH and the world has kept turning around. Money has been made and lost. If that was the case, why would we use the term "Returning To Work".

What COVID should have taught the world is that WFH can work and will continue to work. It is a real-world version of "Thanos Theory" (Check out the last two episodes of The Avengers).

The internet has been telling us for two decades that we should embrace it. Embracing the internet will reduce all the "global warming" issues. The population will realise that chasing the almighty dollar was not so important. Being productive and working with passion is the key driver to success.

Rushing into a conference packed with people or attending meetings is the old world. Many people have told me that they are now more efficient than before. You would have to agree that having 10 Zoom meetings is absolutely plausible. Having 10 "real world" meetings in a day is near impossible within the confines of a regular working day.

Doing investor roadshows is so much more cost-effective with the internet. How many times have we gone on a roadshow and come back realising that none or a small fraction of the people we met was interested? I am not even talking about these people investing.

I think the onset of the virtual conference or virtual roadshows will be and should be the thing of the future.

The use of large office space is so "Old World". What COVID has shown the world is that WFM works and people do not need to waste the travelling time and the wasted use of office space to feel good. They still can "socialise" but they can do that in different ways.

People will realise that the "feel good" moment while working could be a walk in the garden, watching their newborn baby smile, a coffee near their favourite cafe while having a Zoom call with colleagues, not having to commute an hour each way to get to work....etc

Let us embrace what we have been given, A Restart to a New World.
