What is the significance of 3-2-1?

I noticed that my latest LinkedIn article, which I published 15 months ago and is not really very relevant anymore, has started getting additional views again lately, and I think I know why. When viewing one's profile, the latest article is one of the first things that is prominently featured, so people viewing your profile are inclined to click on it. (Sorry to disappoint so many unsuspecting profile browsers).

Why do I mention this? Just to say that it's time to post another, more meaningful article, and hope that it gets the same attention.

Those of you that "know" me (does anyone ever really "know" anyone?) know that there are two things that spike my interest: (1) numbers, and (2) advocating for our special needs kids, particularly those with Down syndrome, like my daughter Hannah.

So here's a win-win situation where I can put the two interests together.

What is the significance of the numbers 3-2-1? Other than being the last thing you hear on New Year's Eve, those numbers have a particular connection to Down syndrome.

You see, the chromosomes that are found in each of our cells, carrying our genetic code, normally come in pairs, 23 pairs to be precise. But people with Down syndrome have an extra one; they have 3 of chromosome #21. That’s why Down syndrome is also known as Trisomy 21. That’s also why World Down Syndrome Day is on 3/21 each year. See?

With that in mind, I am looking for anyone who shares this interest to take the 3-2-1 Challenge. To take the challenge, simply go to Hannah's Buddy Walk page by Clicking Here and donate $3.21, $32.10, or $321, or any amount containing 3-2-1. Then add your comment to this post so we can acknowledge your greatness.

The Houston Buddy Walk is the Down Syndrome Association of Houston's primary fundraising and awareness event. Each year, we see over 8,000 people gather to show their support for our Down syndrome community, helping to raise the critical funding needed for the various important programs that DSAH provides.

Sorry about that, you're article inspired me. It's a neat concept and a worthy challenge. I re-posted it to my feed and hopefully others will follow suit.

I took on the 3-2-1 Challenge and survived! It's a lot easier than you'd think and I highly recommend it. Please re-post once you've taken the challenge.
