What it TRULY takes to become a Fractional pro. And why you are perfect for it.

What it TRULY takes to become a Fractional pro. And why you are perfect for it.

What do I need to go Fractional? People often ask this question. In their minds, many, if not most, are essentially asking, "What do I have to do to escape endless meetings, micromanagement, and office toxicity?" Deep down, there’s a voice tapping on their brainstem affirming their suspicion that there’s more to life than this.

What’s the secret, John? Is it a great pitch? Nope. A website? No. A killer resume? Nope. An extensive pedigree? Not that either. That's all surface-level stuff. To become a fractional pro, you'll have to dig deeper, beyond your lithosphere and down to your core. I’m talking about guts.

Choosing to start your own thing and doing the hard work to make it succeed is a gutsy move. It takes zero guts to say, "I'm fractional now" without doing the hard work to make such a statement true. It takes A LOT of guts to venture out on your own and face each day with the bold intent to win. You’ll face fear, insecurity, imposter syndrome, and doubt. You’ll have bad days. But, when you’re committed, you push through these challenges. Your confidence in yourself will skyrocket. Others will start to have confidence in you: your kids, your partner, your network, and the person in the mirror. You’ll gain clients, then more clients. You’ll start adding new revenue streams, like coaching, teaching, and advising. You’ll experience a level of freedom you never had in corporate life. Your network will expand, and opportunities will keep coming, as long as you keep doing the work. You’ll gain total control of your life. The only catch is, it’s up to you to keep it.

None of us are particularly discernible from each other based on our website, LinkedIn page, or resume. These things are important; they keep us in the discussion. But they all say the same thing: you’re awesome. And you are. But is it the words and pictures that make you awesome, or is it something deeper? It’s something deeper, and clients and your network can sense it. When it comes to a client hiring you or a person sending you a referral, 100% of that outcome relies on the evidence you display of having guts. And guts come from doing the work.

When we teach the foundational elements of becoming fractional in our Fractional Accelerator course, you exit our cohort with a strategy and plan to crush it. All that’s left for you to do after that is to reach into your guts and make it happen.

Here’s where the nectar gets really sweet for you. Once you've dug deep, started up, gone through the crucible, and done the work, the whole world sees it. Clients know that a person who is fearless and self-determined is exactly who they need on their team, pedigree be damned. What you learn about yourself in the process—that you are awesome, an entrepreneur, and really damn good at your craft—boosts your value through the roof. What happens is, your clients see themselves in you. Yes, they see a functional leader who fits in their org chart and provides relief in doing what they are not able to do themselves. But more than that, they see an ally.

They see guts.

Go Fractional.

great post John Arms! I see a lot of Missionary/Mercenary in what you're saying here... and has given me a few new ideas myself.
