My Take:

Six Sigma Methodology Fantastic Tool and is as relevant today as it was half a Century ago.

Japan can attribute its Manufacturing Powess to Six Sigma , so can GE .

A large number of employees from MNCs to MSME have been trained on the methodology. I’m one of them and Proud of the contribution that I made to my organization by following it.

However , tectonic shift has happened somewhere else over last decade.

All said and done , Six Sigma is all about efficiency with respect to processes and depends on data about past.

However , most value added over last decade and will continue to do so in foreseeable future is in the field of innovation and technology. Innovation today is far more important than efficiency as a value add , as efficiency has become an hygiene factor rather than WOW Factor.

Typically, bigger organizations with proud legacy like GE , IBM are not known to have the culture of innovation and agility. New Age Organisations like Amazon , Google Do .

May be TRIZ ((/ˈtriːz/Russian: теория решения изобретательских задач, teoriya resheniya izobretatelskikh zadatch, literally: "theory of the resolution of invention-related tasks" , In English the name is typically rendered as "the theory of inventive problem solving",[2][3] and occasionally goes by the English acronym TIPS) is more valuable and relevant now than Six Sigma .
