What's Next for 2021?

I attended a virtual end-of-year retreat on December 21st. We briefly reflected on 2020, then focused on wellness, vision boards, and goals for 2021. I've always wanted to create a vision board but never got around to it, so this was the perfect time to get started.

My intentional word for 2020 was consistency, and my theme was "Just get it done!"

I didn't meet all my goals in 2019, so I claimed 2020 as my year of accomplishment. Then the pandemic hit, leading to anxiety and fear all over the world. Suddenly, the zeal with which I marched into 2020 all but vanished.

I was no longer sure about committing to my theme or fulfilling all my goals. I had several options for moving forward but often found myself caught in a loop. I sometimes overanalyzed things leading to procrastination. It was easy to become distracted, lose focus, and subsequently feel stuck. 

Based on the new challenges I faced, I decided to revise my goals. In the process, four words that I realize will be dominant in 2021 stood out to me: creativity, alignment, change, and self-care.

I achieved five out of six of my professional and personal goals. My personal goals are a continuous work in progress-- they're not a one-and-done deal. I have to keep building on them since they influence my professional goals. I was consistent and accomplished much more than I expected.

My 2021 intentional word is courage, my theme is eliminating self-doubt, and I'm proud to say that I'm already making progress on some goals.

I don't know what 2021 will bring, but I'm optimistic and ready to take it a day at a time. I know that regardless of my circumstances, remaining intentional with my thoughts and actions will impact my success in 2021.
