When the lion roars…

When the lion roars…

Saw an Anthony Gucciardi meme this morning that caught my eye and my mind. The close-up photo of a lion’s head with the tagline:

Watch out for people who are always bragging about who they are. A lion will never have to tell you it's a lion.  Anthony Gucciardi

The first word that popped into my head was “braggadocio.” Since I am currently in Costa Rica, not sure if it was the Spanish or English version of the word. (They are the same!)

We all know people in the industry whose faces come to mind when we use that word. We might even wonder sometimes about the image we are putting forth ourselves. After all, as influencers we need to be confident and knowledgeable about our content. And if we are to flourish, we need to be deemed credible and take ownership of our brand.

Strive for pride not pretension. Arrogance and bragging are born of fear that you’re not enough. Confidence is born of accepting that you are.

Magnify your vision without egotistical grandstanding. Inspire others to pick up your mantle through maximizing their strengths not belittling weaknesses. The lion is often at its most mesmerizing when it is not roaring.

Today’s action: Are you roaring at your audiences? Take a little self-awareness time to reflect on your communication style. You want them to stay and listen, not run away.
