Why is branded merchandise important for your business?

In uncertain times, and as budgets are scrutinised, some companies view branded merchandise as a non-essential item, a nice to have, the icing on the cake. But as business bounces back the need to stand out is more essential than ever.

Making sure your logo stays prevalent and seen through any struggle just shows your commitment to your customers and that you will be there on the other side, it also builds confidence.

Consider how merchandise makes you feel. A quality bit of branded kit is like a unexpected gift. I recently received a beautiful branded notebook from a company I'm doing an online social media course with and it totally made my day. They had it sent to my home and I LOVED it but not just because it's my business but because I love a notebook and one that looks and feels beautiful. It connects you to that brand even more, it makes you trust them, it lets you know that they are there for you and that you are still important to them.

No-one writes about branded merchandise so I'm doing my bit to shout out that you gotta get with it and work your brand on that merchandise. Be more creative with it and jump all over it right now. Make it desirable and special with your design. Buy organic and sustainable or recycled and show your customers that you care. It's a way of telling them you are doing your bit to help the environment and put a smile on their face. There's so much out there to choose from and you can be considered in your buying and really make sure the gift reflects you and your values.

Merchandise allows you to extend your brand, it's a no brainer and here are some reasons to consider below.

  • Introduces your business
  • Ensures and builds brand recognition
  • Establishes an emotional connection with an audience
  • Engages the audience with your gift and message
  • Easy to incorporate into your business model
  • Ensures your company exposure

Did you know, the BBC set aside £3 million to spend on hoodies, mugs, umbrellas and promotional goods over the next 3 years (data is 1 year old) but that means in the last year they've spent close to £1 million on merchandise. Businesses across the UK alone spent almost £1.5 billion per year on branded merch so that in itself shows how important it is. Branded Merchandise is fun and it's what everyone wants a piece of (as long as it's good quality) so start using it and incorporating it in your return to work and the new normal.
