Why are Design Awards important?
'Deja Huella' is a comprehensive manual for building personal and professional brands through non-fiction literature. Co-authored with Vanessa Garduño, it represents a unique journey in my career, blending the roles of designer and author. This project allowed me the artistic liberty to not only design but also shape the narrative, resulting in a powerful and influential piece of work.
I am thrilled to share 'Deja Huella' has been recently honoured with the 'Selección ANUARIA' Award in the 'Best Design in an Editorial Publication' category. This achievement marks the fourth international accolade* for the project, a testament to its impact and excellence in design.
But, why is receiving these awards important?
Design awards represent much more than mere recognition; they are catalysts for professional growth and opportunity. They highlight excellence, providing a platform for designers to be recognized by their peers and leaders in the industry. Winning or even being shortlisted in these awards is a significant endorsement of a designer's skills, creativity, and innovation, marking a stamp of quality that distinguishes them in the field.
Increased visibility is a significant benefit of winning a design award. These recognitions attract the attention of the media, potential clients, and the design community, opening new opportunities, projects, and collaborations. They act as a third-party validation of a designer's abilities and the quality of their work, crucial for freelancers or small studios seeking to establish credibility. Additionally, design awards offer networking opportunities, bringing together a community of talented professionals. This interaction can lead to future collaborations and is an opportunity to learn from and be inspired by other designers.
Lastly, awards are also a source of inspiration and challenge, encouraging designers to stay current with trends, technologies, and techniques in the design field. Many contests offer feedback from a jury or panel of experts, which is invaluable for learning and refining one's design approach.
