Why hold Family Day styled Events?

Recently, our team produced a company Culture Day. During the event, an interactive session was held to help develop key insights around areas for internal improvement. What came back was quite surprising and appears to be reflecting a trend that we’re seeing more often. The number one insight was a desire for employees to be able to share more of what they do at work with their families.

I was surprised by the feedback but once I started to think about it more deeply, it really makes sense. We spend so much time at work and then busily continuing to deal with work via our devices when at home. Helping our families better understand what we do and who we do for it for helps marry the division between work and our home lives.

Traditionally, when we think of company Family Days it conjures up memories of clowns and kids themed activities in a fair like environment. That is very much not what they have to be or in fact what they’re like in 2017. Family Days can help create authentic opportunities for companies to share their values, their key pillars, and their community spirit in a more open and friendly manner with people that matter probably just as much as their employees.

We’re starting to see really clever ways in which to engage with family members of different age groups in playful ways that unite and engage families, colleagues and teams. We’re seeing people connecting and sharing who they are beyond just what they do within business hours. The results are quite astounding and we’re very much looking forward to doing a lot more creative event management in this space.
