Why Recruiters Are Victim Of AI
Technology is the reason for the failure of most of the recruiters.
I went to a very deep thinking today and realized that if we bring the data of recruiters from the last 5-7 years, there is a deep dissatisfaction of work, confusion, stress has been increased in the recruiters.
Well… it was there 12-15 years ago too but the degree of negative emotion associated with it was very less compared to now.
And here is what my observation, it is not a blame game but looking at the fact as is.
Let me share a few examples…
Recruiters back in the year 2000-2005 and earlier to that… everything that was happening because of their own thinking, logic & action.
1. They used to find their best keywords for them
2. They used to use their logic to build Boolean
3. They used to find candidates with their own research, plans, referrals & relations.
4. … … drafting emails.
5. … … response to those emails.
6. … … reading the resume, building candidate database, creating multiple accurate folders & candidate pipeline, and so on.
7. And the best part was, they used to discuss with their team about the difficulties and they borrowed the other person’s logic to solve their own problems.
Fast forward to the year 2020 … Everything is automated … may be majority we may call.
Pulling requirement from VMS – Automated
Posting the req in ATS – Automated
Identifying Keywords - Automated
Building String – Automated
Sourcing – Automated
Intro emails to the candidate – Automated
Calling – Automated
Resume Pipelining – Automated
Resume formatting – Automated and on …
- If everything is automated then where is the time going & why recruiters are not successful?
- If everything is there to help the employee to do more and not to spend more time in the repeated tasks then why recruiters are having less energy?
- If everything the software knew about the process & can perform then why still most of the companies struggle to increase their revenue?
… … … When will the car owner get the self-confidence in driving a car in the traffic if s/he is traveling daily in a self-driving car? The car is doing all the thinking for him/her...
Wait a minute?
- Where exactly the recruiters are using their creative thinking & logic at work?
- Aren’t they just like the operator of some software and we call them a recruiter?
If you slow down for a moment and analyze… most of the recruiters are not using any of their creative brains; they don’t control the tasks so the outcome is out of their control. When things go wrong, they have no idea… “why” that happened… “what” happened.
Where do we see it going…?
The more we avoid our creative brain … the more we go away from our natural abilities to perform a task … & it will lead to a crisis in self-image, self-belief, self-confidence & self-esteem.
So, the conclusion here I want to make is … One, Two & Three...
One... Before totally relying on your automated software… recruiters must understand the logic behind every task, perform manually, master their creative brain, rely as less as they can on automation till they reach a certain level. Once they master their own humanly efforts then, they can use software to increase their productivity. If anyone relies on automation or AI solely from the beginning by not understanding whether the person can do it by himself or not; then it will lead to disaster in the future.
Two... Find out your natural talents and your own human flavor. Give that uniqueness to everything that you do. Let people experience why they should work with you. Because something that you do... "You" only can do those things the way you do it.
Three... It is high time for every employee to find their own potential to connect with people and help them to become successful. Focus on team building, focus on inspiring people, focus on changing people's lives, and focus on making a positive impact on others' life. You will never be replaced by a machine.

Don't let your career, future, and family be devastated by some codes & algorithms.
