Why Size Matters

Why Size Matters

As the co-founder of Trebla Talent, a small, women-owned talent firm, my professional journey has led me to both the exciting, ever-changing world of start-up-style talent firms and the corporate cubicles of a large recruiting company. It's because of this that I have firsthand insights into the distinctive advantages that smaller talent firms bring to the table.

Overhead Cost:

The simple truth is that large staffing companies mainly prioritize volume and billing. The common approach often involves casting a wide net, as my old boss used to say, 'Reach out to everyone, and see what sticks.' Unfortunately, this strategy, under the pressure to manage employee overhead costs and secure the most lucrative offers, overlooks the best interests of the candidates involved.

On the contrary, small recruiting firms put candidates first and can be selective when reaching out/partnering with clients. This allows boutique firms to be truly specialized while ensuring they understand each client’s growth structure, sciences, culture, and overall needs. At Trebla Talent, we take immense pride in providing our preferred partners with the "home run" candidates they deserve and our candidates with opportunities they never would have imagined landing!

Personalized Approach:

I've seen it happen, over and over again. Enterprise-level organizations often forget that candidates are real people and not numbers on a board. This mindset often results in negative outcomes such as candidate disengagement, lack of feedback, and nonexistent candidate/client loyalty. Not to mention, leaving countless candidates feeling like they simply don't matter.

Working with a smaller search firm with an intimate portfolio of clients eliminates those problems, leading to organic growth, accurate placements in less time, and team cohesiveness. This personalized approach allows for repeat business, high levels of candidate and client engagement.

Working Experience:

When it comes to the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industry, knowledge is paramount. At Trebla Talent, we strongly believe in the "one-inch wide, 5 miles deep" approach. As a small talent firm, it's a requirement for us to provide our recruiters with the time to learn the ins and outs of specific functions. Ultimately, leading to highly knowledgeable, micro-specialized recruiters who speak confidently and provide the clients in our portfolio with experienced candidates, approaches, and solutions.

The same is not always true at large firms where volume and billing are the top priority. Recruiters from large firms quickly become just another number within those large organizations and are rapidly left in the dark, having to fend for themselves. Since these companies hire at a large scale, due to their high turnover, they mainly hire fresh college grads with little to no previous recruiting experience. As you can imagine, that already puts them at a disadvantage.

In conclusion, smaller more specialized talent firms bring unique advantages to the forefront. Our commitment to prioritizing our partnerships and holding our candidates to higher standards, speaks for itself.
