Wishing You a Happy New Year!
I read an article recently that talked about the different ways and traditions in which people start the new year. Here are a few of my favorites:
All doors and windows of the house must be open at midnight to usher out the old year, which clears the way for a promising new year to enter with a fresh, untainted beginning.
2. Not a good day for laundry
Those who do laundry on the first day of a new year are said to run the risk of washing off any good luck they may otherwise have experienced during the coming year.
3. Lucky foods
Pennsylvania Dutch tradition dictates you eat a meal of pork and sauerkraut on January 1 to ensure good luck in the new year.
The superstition suggests that because a pig roots forward, eating pork on New Year's Day helps a person move ahead. In contrast, chickens scratch backwards in a direction nobody wants to move, and cows tend to stand still much of the time.

All the best to you and your families in 2024!
