Women in Leadership: delivering positive impact and changing mindsets.

Women in Leadership: delivering positive impact and changing mindsets.

As we strive for greater inclusivity, diversity, and equity, the empowerment of women in leadership roles continues to emerge as a crucial element. Developing women leaders is not just about achieving gender equality; it’s about unlocking the potential of half the world’s population to drive innovation and economic growth.

There are positive trends, such as women held 40.2% of board positions at the end of 2023 (up from 9.5% in 2011) but in most industries, there is a long way to go. In the STEM industry, only 29.2% of the workforce comprises of women, highlighting a glaring underrepresentation.

The factors contributing to these statistics are varied and rooted deeply in societal behaviours, stereotypes, and mindsets. Take the Paris Olympics in 2024 as an example, where gender parity was celebrated for the first time. This milestone wasn't achieved by chance or simply through hard work and good intentions. It was the result of deliberate actions by the International Olympic Committee, which established a working group, produced reports, made commitments, and engaged with stakeholders. Meaningful change in statistics requires leaders who are committed to advancing equality.
